Agape Table is in need of volunteers more than ever as the demand for a hot meal increases with the colder winter-like temperatures blowing in.

The non-profit provides a daily breakfast service to Winnipeg’s less fortunate population and has been doing so since 1980.

On Thursday, Agape hosted a musical open house and a call for seasonal volunteers. Local musicians came together to play tunes from Stompin’ Tom Connors, Neil Young and Gordon Lightfoot. Musician and radio host Troy Westwood also lent his talent to the cause.

Organizers hope the music continues the dialogue on ways to compassionately address hunger and homelessness in Winnipeg.
