The president and CEO of Winnipeg-based James Richardson & Sons Limited will be invested into the Order of Canada today in Ottawa.
Hartley Richardson will receive a promotion within the Order at Rideau Hall in a ceremony presided over by Governor General David Johnston.
“Hartley Richardson has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to building a better community for future generations,” a statement from Rideau Hall reads. “His generosity has benefited numerous philanthropic projects across Canada, including the redevelopment of Assiniboine Park in Winnipeg, and the completion of the Trans Canada Trail.”
The honour will be bestowed on two companions, 18 officers and 22 members.
The Order of Canada was created to recognize outstanding achievement, dedication to the community and service to the nation.
