Man Arrested After Stabbing at Party on Maryland

Winnipeg Police CrestAn 18-year-old man is in police custody after allegedly stabbing a 22-year-old man at a drinking party early Saturday.

The two men had been at the party in the 400 block of Maryland Street when they became involved in a dispute. Police say the 18-year-old took out a knife and stabbed the other man multiple times.

The victim was taken to hospital in unstable condition, but later upgraded to stable.

Richard George Paul of Winnipeg has been charged with aggravated assault and remains in custody.

Police also arrested 16-year-old girl, who lunged at police and physically assaulted an officer while in custody. She has been charged with assaulting a peace officer.
