The president and CEO of the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority will retire in the coming months.

Arlene Wilgosh informed the WRHA board of directors on Tuesday of her decision to retire effective March 22, 2015.

“I am very privileged to lead a wonderful and talented leadership team at the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority,” Wilgosh said in a statement. “Together, we have accomplished a lot, and I look forward to continue working with the board and my senior management team over the coming months as the organization prepares itself for transition.”

Wilgosh was hired as president and CEO on March 22, 2010 — the first woman and nurse in the position.

The board will consider both internal and external candidates for the position during the recruitment process to find Wilgosh’s successor.
