WINNIPEG — Two homes in St. Norbert were severely damaged Wednesday morning after a fire at 78 Payment Street.
Crews responded just before 5 a.m. to find the one-storey bungalow fully engulfed after a fire ignited in the garage. Flames quickly spread to the neighbouring home at 74 Payment St.
A third home also sustained some exterior damage caused by radiant heat.
Due to extremely cold conditions, crews had to be rotated and responded from 13 different stations and remained on scene until late Wednesday morning to extinguish hotspots.
Both families were able to make it out of the homes safely and no injuries were reported.
A damage estimate isn’t yet available. The cause remains under investigation.
