The Manitoba government is creating additional child-care spaces at Harrow School in Fort Garry.
Through a new child-care centre, space for up to 16 infants and 48 pre-schoolers will be added to the existing spaces for a total of 110.
“Early childhood education is critical for laying the foundation for Manitoba’s children to get a good start in life and child care gives parents the option to go back to work or return to school,” said Education and Advanced Learning Minister Peter Bjornson.
Planning and design work on the new 6,000-square-foot centre is already underway.
Bjornson also announced that he will table legislation that would allow government to protect child-care centres in schools.
