Arrest Made in Fatal St. Boniface Stabbing

Winnipeg Police CrestWinnipeg police have made an arrest in a stabbing that turned fatal in St. Boniface on Saturday morning.

At around 2 a.m., emergency personnel responded to a drinking party in the 100 block of La Verendrye Street for the report of a stabbing. A 31-year-old man was found with a stab wound to the upper body and rushed to hospital in critical condition.

Victor Cory Hardisty later succumbed to his injuries.

Elvis Marcel McKay, 38, was arrested Saturday afternoon and has been charged with second-degree murder and six counts of failing to comply with conditions of a recognizance.

He remains in custody and police are continuing to investigate.
