WestJet has done it again with their over-the-top Christmas video spreading the joy of the season to a deserving community abroad.
WestJet Christmas Miracle: Spirit of Giving brought Christmas to a struggling town in the Dominican Republic this year, giving locals a taste of a traditional snowy Canadian Christmas.
The Calgary-based airline travelled to Nuevo Renacer last month with Live Different — a Canadian charity that works with volunteers on development projects abroad — to pull off the miracle. Since 2012, WestJet has helped build 23 homes for families living in extreme poverty in the community, one of four the airline services in the country.
“The WestJet holiday video has become a tradition for us, an opportunity for WestJetters to enrich lives through our fun and caring culture,” said Bob Cummings, WestJet Executive vice-president, sales marketing and guest experience.
“Having shared the holiday spirit last year with our guests in Toronto, Hamilton and Calgary that resulted in the more than 36 million views of the video in every country around the world, we decided to celebrate Christmas this year with a community that is near and dear to our hearts.”
