99.1 Fresh FM Empties DriveA Winnipeg radio station is stepping up to help fundraise for two families displaced from their homes last week after a fire in St. Norbert.

99.1 Fresh FM will be broadcasting live from Grant Park Shopping Centre on Saturday, December 6 for their “Empties Drive.” Listeners are asked to drop off empty bottles and cans, raising funds for the families affected.

The fire at 78 Payment Street on November 26 spread to a neighbouring home before damaging a third. Everyone made it out safely.

Morning show hosts Matt Sutton and Sarah Christie will be on the air from noon to 4 p.m. They’re also calling on a local bar to donate their empties from Friday night’s business.

At the same time, the event will be raising funds for Winnipeg Harvest ahead of the holidays.
