WINNIPEG — Just in time for the holiday season, the Lighthouse Mission is taking full advantage of its new kitchen to help serve their more than 250 patrons daily.
Through Project Echo and the Winnipeg Foundation, the mission was create new space with additional appliances.
“We’re just so excited because there’s multiple benefits that are going to benefit the community big-time,” said operations manager Joel Cormie.
The kitchen renovation was led by Jeff Fisher and Project Echo, which raised most of the approximately $40,000, and included an $8,000 grant from the Winnipeg Foundation.
“We identified a need and so many people pulled together to solve a problem,” said Fisher, “When we started working with Lighthouse Mission, all the food for the day was cooked in one pot on a hot plate.”
A hot dinner will be provided to patrons on December 6 and 7 through Project Echo’s Sam’s Christmas initiative.
