University of Manitoba BisonsStudent-athletes from the University of Manitoba are helping out at Siloam Mission this week.

Teams from Bison Sports are assisting at the Winnipeg homeless shelter December 8-12, working in two daily shifts to help out with breakfast and lunch seatings.

Fourth year women’s hockey hockey Jessica Rosenbaum has taken over the leadership for U of M students to be involved with Siloam Mission this year. Former Bison women’s volleyball player Lindsay Poggemiller-Smith drove the initial initiative in 2005, as she had been a volunteer at the mission and continues to be involved as staff today.

“This will be the tenth year in a row that Bison student-athletes will volunteer to help Siloam Mission continue doing the great work that they do for the people who rely on the services they provide,” Rosenbaum said. “We are glad to be able to take part and give back as a part of our community.”

This is the 10th consecutive year the Bisons have been involved with the shelter.
