People living in Winnipeg’s North End will be treated to a community Christmas party tonight at St. John’s Anglican Cathedral, where about 400 meals will be served to the city’s less fortunate.
A Christmas carol sing-a-long with family portrait sessions will also be held, and every child in attendance will go home with a brand new toy.
The sixth annual event is being put on by the North End Family Centre with financial support from Jim Gauthier Chevrolet.
“This event is always the highlight of our year. It’s wonderful to see the smiles on everyone face’s as we all enjoy a great evening together,” said Kyle Mason, executive director of North End family Centre.
“All families deserve a safe and happy Christmas and this is our way to help make that happen. It is a great way to build community together.”
The event begins at 6 p.m. at 135 Anderson Avenue.
