Manitobans are the most generous bunch of Canadians, according to new data from the Fraser Institute.
In 2012, 25.4 percent of tax filers donated to charities, putting Manitoba at the top of the list above Saskatchewan and Ontario to round out the top three. New Brunswick had the lowest at 20.3 percent.
Manitobans also gave 0.84 percent of their combined income going to charity. On the other end of the spectrum, Quebecers donated just 0.31 percent of their combined income to charity — roughly half the 2012 national average of 0.61 percent.
