A two-vehicle crash on Highway 311 near Steinbach Wednesday evening has claimed the life of a 59-year-old woman.
The crash happened shortly before 7 p.m. approximately 1 km east of Highway 12 north of the southern Manitoba community.
Police say an eastbound pickup truck and westbound car collided head-on. The RM of Ste. Anne woman driving the car was pronounced deceased at the scene. The two other passengers in the car, a 14-year-old boy and a four-year-old girl, were taken to hospital in Winnipeg. Both are listed in stable condition.
The 34-year-old woman driving the pickup, also from the RM of Ste. Anne, suffered minor injuries, along with a four-year-old girl and six-year-old boy in the vehicle. They were taken to a local hospital and later released.
Alcohol and road conditions are not considered factors in the crash.
RCMP are continuing to investigate.
