New immigrants are being treated to a home cooked Christmas feast on Wednesday, hosted at X-Cues Billiards and Cafe on Sargent Avenue.
The Sons of Italy, West End BIZ and Sorrento’s are putting on the meal, providing a warm festive atmosphere, traditional Italian style holiday meal and gifts and hampers for all attendees.
Guests will also include international students, who may not be able to make it home for the holidays with their families. Last year, a record 450 people attended the meal.
“For a few hours we can make the holiday a reality for someone, especially the children. On a day they might otherwise feel alone, they are part of a family celebration… I can’t imagine doing anything else on Christmas Eve,” said Gloria Cardwell-Hoeppner, executive director of the West End BIZ.
All guests receive a gift, warm clothing items, a food hamper with ingredients for a hearty meal, and some personal care products.
The meal will be served at 11:30 a.m.
