Pitcher Nick Hernandez has been re-signed to the Winnipeg Goldeyes for the 2015 season.
The 26-year-old American Association pitcher of the year had 20 starts with the Goldeyes last season, going 12-2 with a 3.06 ERA and two complete-game shutouts. He saved his best performances for August when he won all six of his starts and sported a 2.18 ERA.
“What a surprise season we got from Nick Hernandez in 2014,” manager Rick Forney said. “He certainly superseded expectations. Being named pitcher of the year says a lot. There were some guys in the American Association that had some fine seasons, but none better than the one Nick produced for us last year.
The Goldeyes now have three pitchers and one position player signed for the 2015 season.
