The Royal Winnipeg Ballet has been designated as a national historic event.
The federal government announced Tuesday a commemoration of one of the earliest ballet companies in the country, which helped establish ballet as a theatrical dance form in Canada.
“We are extremely honoured to receive this designation. The Royal Winnipeg Ballet takes pride in representing not only the art form of dance but to represent Canada wherever we perform,” said Jeff Herd, executive director of the RWB. “This designation will truly mark our 75th anniversary season.”
The RWB also operates a prestigious dance school, with recreational and professional divisions.
