Woman Shot in Rooming House on Aberdeen Avenue

Winnipeg Police CrestA 24-year-old woman is recovering in hospital after being shot with a pellet gun in the upper body on Christmas Eve.

Winnipeg police were called to a rooming house in the 600 block of Aberdeen Avenue just before 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

The victim was taken to hospital in unstable condition, but has since been upgraded to stable.

William Benjamin Dane Hunter-Garrioch, 18, of Winnipeg was arrested at the scene.

He has been charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, three counts of possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, discharging an air gun or pistol with intent, and break and enter.

He remains in custody.
