RCMP Crest LogoThree girls from Mitchell, Manitoba are in hospital after they were hit by a vehicle on Highway 206 Monday evening.

At around 6 p.m. the victims were walking on the highway just north of Provincial Road 52 when they were hit in the RM of Hanover.

RCMP say one girl was airlifted to hospital via STARS air ambulance, while the other two were taken to hospital by ground ambulance. One of the three is in stable condition, the second is stable with a broken leg and the third has been released from hospital.

The person driving the vehicle wasn’t injured.

Kleefeld Deputy Fire Chief Armin Dueck says the girls, all under the age of 18, were walking on the wrong side of the road when they were hit by a car.

Alcohol is not a factor in the crash and police are continuing to investigate.
