Two Winnipeg Men Arrested in Rash of Break and Enters

Winnipeg Police CrestTwo men have been arrested after Winnipeg police say they were responsible for a string of thefts and break and enters.

The first incident involved a bicycle being stolen from the rear lot in the 1400 block of Main Street on June 26.

On August 31, a home was broken into in the 300 block of Manitoba Avenue, where $700 worth of copper piping was stolen, which flooded the residence and caused $2,000 in property damage.

Several more break-ins and thefts occurred on September 15, October 7, October 23, November 6, November 21 and December 17 in various neighbourhoods across the city.

Both men were arrested on Tuesday.

Victor Quenton Hiebert, 50 of Winnipeg has been charged with six counts of break, enter and theft, three counts of theft under $5,000, nine counts of failing to comply with a probation order and theft over $5,000.

A 77-year-old Winnipeg man was released on a promise to appear and faces similar charges.
