Winnipeg police have arrested a man after he took off after being pulled over for suspended insurance early Wednesday.
Police on patrol spotted a Chevrolet Uplander in the area of Nairn Avenue and Panet Road at around 12:15 a.m. A computer check revealed the insurance on the vehicle was suspended. Before officers could approach the minivan, the driver took off, evading police at a high rate of speed and disobeying traffic lights.
The suspect eventually stopped in the area of Gables Court and Kildare Avenue East after colliding with a parked vehicle.
Marc Allen Sweet, 35, of Winnipeg has been charged with numerous offences, including impaired driving, driving with a suspended registration and while disqualified, resisting a peace officer, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, failing to comply with a probation order, and failing to leave particulars after an accident.
