
WINNIPEG — December was an active month for vehicle theft in the city, with police reporting 115 vehicles being stolen during that time.
An additional 40 attempts were also made to steal vehicles. Of those that were taken, 35 were left running or had keys in the ignition.
Ten of the vehicles had keys stolen or missing from jackets, purses/backpacks left unattended in public areas.
Four of the vehicles were stolen by using spare keys that were left inside the vehicle somewhere.
Police are reminding the public not to leave their vehicles unattended, running or not, for any length of time while the keys are in the ignition.
