The Trans-Canada Highway near Portage la Prairie was closed Wednesday morning after two semis collided.
At around 4:30 a.m. an eastbound semi-trailer lost control near the Southport bypass and left the road, sending it through the north ditch and into the westbound lane. A semi travelling west struck the trailer as it crossed into the opposite lane.
The 32-year-old Winnipeg man driving the eastbound semi was taken to hospital in stable condition. The 30-year-old Whitemouth man driving the other semi wasn’t injured.
Both drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. Road conditions and alcohol aren’t considered factors in the crash.
