January 30, 2015 7:00 AM CDT | Entertainment

Downtown Winnipeg BIZThe Downtown Winnipeg BIZ’s popular farmers’ market is making a comeback with year-round dates.

The market will open February 12 and last until December of this year at Manitoba Hydro Place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The market will run the second Thursday of each month on February 12, March 12, April 9 and May 14, followed by every Thursday from June to Thanksgiving and the second Thursday of each month on November 12 and December 10.

“We are delighted to once again offer our downtown community with a farmers’ market with year-round dates,” said Stefano Grande, executive director of the Downtown Winnipeg BIZ.

“Farmers’ markets not only help support the local economy, they reduce transportation costs and food waste. They help create a unique destination for downtown residents, office workers, students, and tourists — adding vibrancy to our streets and sidewalks and attracting business for downtown stores and restaurants nearby.”
