Winnipeg Police CrestWinnipeg police have caught up to a man they say flashed a gun multiple times over the past week.

Police were first called on January 23 to a home in the 600 block of Langside Street. A 25-year-old woman was allegedly threatened by the man with a firearm, but took off before police arrived.

The next day, the man is said to have attended a hotel bar in the 300 block of Ellice Avenue, where he showed off a pellet gun to several patrons. Police were called, but the man once again eluded officers. The canine unit later recovered the gun after the man fled the area.

Police then say on January 29, the suspect got into a dispute with a female known to him in the 300 block of Ross Avenue. The victim was physically assaulted and the suspect took off. Her injures weren’t considered serious in nature.

Police finally tracked the man down on January 30 to the 400 block of Bannatyne Avenue. A shotgun and ammunition was found in his vehicle and he was arrested.

William Walter Ahmo, 39, of Winnipeg has been charged with assault, forcible confinement, mischief under $5,000, uttering threats, sexual assault and more than 20 firearm-related offences.

He remains in custody.
