The Winnipeg Goldeyes have signed outfielder Brett Krill and rookie catcher Ramon Ortega for the 2015 season.
Krill, 26, played the last four seasons in the San Francisco Giants organization after being drafted by the Giants in the 25th round of the 2010 MLB Amateur Draft. He split last season between Class A-Advanced San Jose, Class AA Richmond and Class AAA Fresno, hitting .191 with 15 RBI in 64 games.
Ortega, 25, made his professional debut last season for the Frontier Greys – a travelling team in the Frontier League. In 38 games, the switch-hitting catcher hit .208 with a home run and seven RBI. He was a teammate of Goldeyes pitcher Taylor Sewitt at Manhattan College.
The Goldeyes now have 13 players signed for the 2015 season, including seven pitchers and six position players.
