WINNIPEG — Shopping centres across the country will begin displaying art through a new program launched by PATTISON Outdoor Advertising.
The Art Belongs in the Community (ABC) program has partnered with numerous arts organizations to offer new audience-building opportunities through PATTISON Onestop’s Digital Mall Network.
Ten major public art galleries will be displaying works in a digital environment, showcasing a range of pieces on mall screens throughout Canada.
The program’s objective is to help broaden the exposure of artists and their artwork in the communities they are exhibited.
“This year we have partnered with, for the first time, a group of public art galleries across the country in an effort to bring artwork outside the walls of the gallery and offer it to the public at shopping centres near them,” said Sharon Switzer, national arts programmer and curator of PATTISON Onestop.
“It’s a novel approach that will reap positive benefits for artists, the galleries, and art lovers.”
In Winnipeg, the Winnipeg Art Gallery will run its pieces on a screen at Kildonan Place Shopping Centre.
Art Belongs in the Community is on now until December 31, 2015.
