Assiniboine Community College in Brandon has partnered with Enform to bring new oilfield training to the city.
The collaboration will allow ACC and Enform to begin offering high-end oilfield safety certification this spring.
“These courses keep Manitoba workers in Manitoba and we’re pleased to be partnering with Enform to bring this opportunity to Brandon,” said ACC president Mark Frison. “Building partnerships with industry is part of our strategic direction and helps us move forward with our goal of supporting local employers with customized training.”
Workers would usually have to travel to Estevan or Calgary for such training, but the nine-day course in early June will allow them to take the regulatory required training locally.
Topics covered include dealing with blowout prevention, flammable substances, and safety management that are otherwise unavailable in Manitoba. Workers seeking employment in the oil patch are required to take such courses to work in the industry, as well as those seeking recertification.
“We expect these courses with Enform to be very popular, and with sufficient demand will offer them in future years,” Frison added.
