Volunteers with the Manitoba Lung Association are getting ready to deliver flowers for the organization’s annual Breath of Spring tulip fundraiser.
“The Breath of Spring tulip campaign is our largest fundraising event,” said executive director Margaret Bernhardt-Lowdon. “We rely on the generosity and hard work of volunteers to wrap, pack and then deliver thousands of tulips.”
More than 60 volunteers will pack 475 tulips for over 280 orders from corporations, unions and other organizations on Sunday, February 23.
The Winnipeg packing location is at Petals West, 975 Sherwin Road, from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. On February 24, the Brandon branch of the Lung Association will have volunteers pack and deliver 65 dozen tulip orders at the Central United Church, 327 8th Street at 10:30 a.m.
“The deliveries will be made by retired MTS employees,” said Gail Campbell, the area coordinator for Brandon, Parkland and Westman. “They’re a great bunch and do this every year.”
People can also purchase Breath of Spring tulips at one of many displays in Winnipeg, Brandon and other communities.
