The Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra is bringing in violin phenom Nikki Chooi to perform late next week.
Chooi will play Dvorak’s Violin Concerto in A minor February 27-28 on a very expensive 1700 Stradivari violin valued at more than $5 million.
The WSO will also present Rachmaninoff’s dynamic Third Symphony, full of melodies that might fall right off of a Hollywood screen.
Also on the musical schedule is a world premiere piece by Vincent Ho titled Postlude: Song of Hope featuring soprano Lara Ciekiewicz, written to celebrate the opening of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights.
Tickets start at $25 and are available through the WSO box office, wso.ca or Ticketmaster. Soundcheck tickets start at $15.
