In their eleventh season of cabaret monologues, Sarasvati Productions is about to focus on stories of extraordinary women and ordinary women who have done amazing things.
With the theme SuperWomen, this year’s monologues will include a lineup of powerful and hilarious pieces while celebrating women’s experiences.
“We received submissions from all over Canada and have selected an amazing line-up of monologues that offers something for everyone,” said artistic director Hope McIntyre. “We also are excited to present new work by local playwrights who wrote about super women just for this event.”
Seasoned playwrights include Dave Carley and Scott Douglas, with emerging writers Frances Koncan, who last year won the FemFest Bake-Off, and Sandy Klowak.
The nine monologues will be performed by an all local cast of actors, including Sarasvati regular Jane Burpee and emerging actor Jenna Hill (Social Studies, PTE 2014).
Cabaret monologues will run March 7 at the Asper Centre for Theatre and Film at the University of Winnipeg at 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at sarasvati.ca or by calling (204) 586-2236.
