Winnipeg Jets centre Mark Scheifele has been named a Team KidSport Athlete Ambassador for KidSport Winnipeg.

The new role will see the Kitchener native more active in the community, appearing at a number of upcoming fundraising events.

“Growing up, sports were a huge part of my life; I made so many good friends, learned so much and sports kept me active and healthy,” Scheifele said. “To be able to be a part of KidSport Winnipeg is very important to me.”

KidSport Winnipeg committee chair Matt Erhard says Scheifele is a great role model and represents the character and dedication in sport the organization strives to achieve.

Scheifele and KidSport will partner for a two-day hockey camp for kids June 20-21, and a golf tournament on June 22.
