Country star Gord Bamford will be in Winnipeg on Saturday to make a hefty donation to the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba.

Bamford is on a cross-Canada gaunt to donate $130,000 to charitable causes through the Gord Bamford Charitable Foundation. Since beginning in 2008, the foundation has raised approximately $2 million through an annual charity golf classic hosted in his hometown of Lacombe, Alberta every summer.

Bamford will donate $10,000 to the Winnipeg-based foundation, similar to amounts given to other hospitals in Alberta, Ontario and Nova Scotia.

“I’ve seen it first-hand on my visits to children’s hospitals over the years. I’m so grateful to be in the position to continue to help support such worthwhile organizations and hospitals all across Canada,” Bamford said in a release.

The foundation provide funds for initiatives that include or involve music, education, health care, sports, and multi-use facilities that benefit youth across Canada.

Bamford performs Saturday at the Club Regent Event Centre and Sunday in Brandon.
