WINNIPEG — Premier Greg Selinger has landed the support of 17 delegates of Teamsters Local 979, which represents more than 2,500 Manitoba workers.

The union will support Selinger at the NDP leadership vote on March 8.

“Greg has been great for labour,” said Kelly Gorzen, secretary treasurer/principal officer at Teamsters Local 979. “The infrastructure work he has initiated in Manitoba has created thousands of jobs.”

Local 979 represents those working in the armoured car industry, couriers, trucking, construction, administrative support, hotels and other sectors.

The union supported Selinger in the 2009 leadership race.
