A new pilot program at St. Amant will help people with developmental disabilities get out and be active.
A $25,000 grant from the Winnipeg Foundation will fund staffing, space rentals and program materials to run the St. Amant Leisure Program, which offers soccer, swimming, football, dancing, crafts, and culinary classes for a range of ages.
“We know that families and individuals we support can find it difficult to participate in leisure and recreation activities within the community,” said John Leggat, president and CEO of St. Amant.
“Yet we also know that all people need social connection and recreation; this program should make a big difference.”
The program is hosting two, 10-week sessions this spring that offer a total of 14 different activities.
