Humphrey explores his new surroundings at the Assiniboine Park Zoo on Monday, March 9, 2015. (HANDOUT)
The Assiniboine Park Zoo’s newest resident has arrived from Toronto.
Humphrey is a 16-month-old polar bear who has moved into his temporary home at the International Polar Bear Conservation Centre. He arrived in Winnipeg at around 2 a.m. Saturday and will be the seventh polar bear to call the zoo home.
“Humphrey arrived safe and sound and is adjusting to his new surroundings”, said Dr. Brian Joseph, director of zoological operations for the Assiniboine Park Zoo. “All signs indicate that he is in good spirits and it will be a smooth transition as he is slowly introduced to the other polar bears.”
The bear will undergo the standard 30-day quarantine period, but is on exhibit at the IPBCC.
