Winnipeg Goldeyes LogoThe Winnipeg Goldeyes have signed veteran right-handed pitcher Jailen Peguero for the 2015 season.

The 34-year-old played last season in the Mexican League with Laguna and Campeche, and has been in the professional baseball for the past 13 years, including part of the 2007 and 2008 seasons in the major leagues with the Arizona Diamondbacks.

“We were looking for an experienced ninth inning guy,” manager Rick Forney said. “If you look at his track record over his career, he’s been very healthy, never had a surgery on his arm. He’s pitched at the highest level and is very comfortable pitching late in ball games.”

In his two seasons with the Diamondbacks, Peguero went 1-0 with a 7.50 ERA in 25 relief appearances.

The Goldeyes now have 17 players signed for the 2015 season, including nine pitchers and eight position players.
