Winnipeg police cadets were quick to intervene and stop a robbery in progress in the Exchange District Monday night.
A 24-year-old man was in the area of Main Street and McDermot Avenue when two men approached him at around 11:10 p.m.
They cornered the victim and demanded cash and a cell phone while armed with knives. Cadet members witnessed the robbery and the suspects fled.
Police located the two men a short time later in the area of Albert Street and Notre Dame Avenue.
Grant Miles Kirby, 31, of Winnipeg and a 24-year-old man are facing robbery and weapons charges. Kirby has also been charged with failing to comply with conditions of an undertaking.
