Nine emerging Manitoba musicians will escape to the peacefulness of FortWhyte Alive during an upcoming retreat March 29-31.

The Manitoba Music Winter Songwriter Retreat will bring songwriters together through a collaboration at a secluded lakeside field station and unique cabins on the property on Winnipeg’s outskirts.

The three-day session features a diverse group of songwriters spanning several genres, including Adam Hanney, Ariane Jean, Attica Riots’ Bobby Desjarlais, À La Mode’s Dominique Lemoine, Jeff Bruce of Jicah/Colour Revolution, Jordan St.Cyr, Quinton Blair, Raine Hamilton, and Mise en Scene’s Stefanie Blondal Johnson.

Songwriters will have added three new songs to their catalog by the end of the retreat.

The public will get a chance to take in performances on April 9 during a concert at the Alloway Reception Centre at FortWhyte Alive. Doors open at 7:30 p.m., showtime is 8 p.m. Tickets are $9 in advance through FortWhyte Alive.
