Winnipeg police have rounded up several teens they say are responsible for a number of vehicle break-ins in the River Heights area.
Police patrols spotted suspicious males at around 4 a.m. on Monday in the area of Kingsway and Campbell Street. Once noticed by police, they took off running. Two of teens were captured by officers, while the third got away.
Police say the third suspect stole a vehicle to make good on his escape.
The group is believed to be responsible for breaking into 15 vehicles in the area in recent months.
Two 14-year-old boys from Winnipeg have been charged with multiple counts of theft, mischief under $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime.
Shortly before 1 a.m. this morning, police arrested the third suspect — a 13-year-old boy — after he crashed a stolen vehicle in the area of Sargent Avenue and Victor Street. The driver fled on foot, but was arrested nearby.
He is facing numerous charges, including flight from police and driving without a licence.
All three teens remain in custody.
