Goldeyes Secure Baker, Pope for 2015 Season

Winnipeg Goldeyes LogoThe Winnipeg Goldeyes have signed infielder Aaron Baker and right-handed pitcher Mark Pope for the 2015 season.

Baker, 27, returns to pro baseball after taking last season off. He played the 2013 season in the Baltimore Orioles system with Class A-Advanced Frederick of the Carolina League and Class AA Bowie of the Eastern League.

Pope, 25, played last summer in the Los Angeles Dodgers organization with Class A Great Lakes of the Midwest League. In 49 relief appearances, he went 4-3 with a 2.26 ERA and nine saves. He has also spent time with San Diego Padres and Atlanta Braves.

The Goldeyes have also traded right-handed pitcher Patrick Mincey to the Bridgeport Bluefish of the Atlantic League in exchange for outfielder Brandon Boggs, who has been traded to the York Revolution of the Atlantic League for cash.
