Winnipeg Man Charged with Attempted Murder in Redwood Stabbing

Winnipeg Police CrestA 55-year-old Winnipeg man has been charged with attempted murder following a stabbing on Saturday morning.

Police were called to the 600 block of Redwood Avenue at around 4:30 a.m. where they found a 43-year-old man had been stabbed in the upper body. The victim was taken to hospital in critical condition and later upgraded to stable.

Police say the victim and suspect lived together, when are argument erupted over two female guests the victim brought home to socialize.

The suspect allegedly assaulted the two females before picking up a weapon and stabbing the victim, police say. The two other people did not require medical attention.

Ronald Edward Murphy has also been charged with carrying a concealed weapon, and two counts of assault. He remains in custody.
