Winnipeg police say a young child is in hospital after the child stopped breathing March 20.
Police said they were called to a home in the 700 block of Flora Avenue at about 6 p.m. When they got there, they found a five-month-old child who had stopped breathing.
Police performed chest compressions on the youngster until they again began to breathe, but was unresponsive. Medical personnel then arrived and were able to take over, transporting the child to hospital.
The child was taken to hospital in critical condition, but later upgraded to stable.
Police said the child had been ill and in the care of caregivers when the child suddenly stopped breathing.
