University of Manitoba student-athletes Rachel Cockrell and Alhaji Mansaray have been named as the 2014-15 Bison Sports Athletes of the Year.
The awards were handed out Saturday at the annual Brown and Gold Banquet held at the U of M.
Manitoba Bisons football head coach Brian Dobie was named the 2014-15 Bison Sports Coach of the Year, while Bison Sports Rookie of the Year award winners were Alanna Sharman and Eric Guy along with Bruce Pirnie as the Pat Gill Legacy Award winner.
In her fourth year of eligibility with Manitoba (fifth year overall), volleyball player Rachel Cockrell captures the award for a second time and is the first multiple winner since Stacey Corfield (2006-07, 2008-09).
Mansaray’s selection marks the seventh overall time that a track & field athlete has won the yearly honour and first selection since 2008-09 that a T&F athlete (Quin Ferguson) has been named to the top Bison male yearly honour.
