Take Pride WinnipegTake Pride Winnipeg! has come out with its annual litter index, scoring the city on its level of cleanliness.

Where 1 represents no litter and up to 4 represents extreme litter, Winnipeg scoared a 2.19 this year compared to 2.14 last April.

“Every spring, we encounter many months’ worth of litter that had been hidden by the snow,” said Tom Ethans, executive director of Take Pride Winnipeg!.

“Ideally, we would love to see no litter on the streets at all, but unfortunately, there are a lot of littered streets, and we need all Winnipeggers to do their part in cleaning them up.”

A clean-up campaign, in partnership with Tim Hortons, aims to beautify the community through the efforts of thousands of volunteers picking up litter in their neighbourhoods.

Groups wanting to join the effort can sign up at takepride.mb.ca.
