Take Pride Winnipeg! has launched their spring cleanup campaign, targeting neighbourhoods in need of some seasonal sprucing up.
“As you can see from driving down city streets, there’s a lot of litter out there, and we need volunteers to help clean it up,” said Tom Ethans, executive director of Take Pride Winnipeg! “Between eighty and ninety percent of cleanup volunteers are students, so we hold a special kick-off to thank them for their efforts.”
The kickoff was held this morning at MTS Centre and signals the start of a multi-month campaign through June.
Students will learn about recycling, taking care of the environment and helping wildlife. Schools, community groups, businesses and individuals are encouraged to join the cleanup effort by registering with Take Pride Winnipeg! Approximately 40,000 people volunteer to pick up litter during the spring and fall campaigns each year.
