A 72-year-old woman died Tuesday when she was hit by a Winnipeg Transit bus at Keewatin Street and Burrows Avenue.
The accident happened shortly after 9 a.m. as the bus was heading southbound on Keewatin.
Police say the woman was standing on the southwest corner of Keewatin Street and Burrows Avenue with the intention of crossing in an eastbound direction at the pedestrian corridor. A transit bus travelling east on Burrows Avenue turned southbound onto Keewatin Street and struck the victim causing her to fall under the bus.
Winnipeg police urged motorists to avoid the area as they investigated.
