WINNIPEG — Hockey fans in Winnipeg are planning where they’ll be watching their hometown team when the 2015 NHL playoffs begin next week.
The Winnipeg Jets clinched a playoff spot Thursday night thanks to Calgary’s win over Los Angeles and despite their own 1-0 shootout loss to the Colorado Avalanche on the road.
Fans were quick to descend to the downtown intersection of Portage and Main into the wee hours of Friday morning to celebrate.
Tickets for games three and four of the Western Conference quarterfinals in Winnipeg go on sale Tuesday at 10 a.m. CT. Prices range from $107.75 to $340 per game. To curb fraud, the Jets recommend only purchasing tickets through their official website and Ticketmaster.
True North Sports and Entertainment is also promoting the famous “whiteout” with the hashtag #WPGWhiteOut. White banners reading “Our team. Our tradition” went up outside MTS Centre Friday morning.
