Winnipeg Police CrestWinnipeg police are trying to locate a suspicious man who approached children playing in a park on Wednesday night.

Police say a parent reported the man having attended Kingston Park on Kingston Crescent at around 7:15 p.m. The man is alleged to have called the children — aged seven and nine — over to his pickup truck and showed them a cat he had found. He asked the youth to help him locate its home, but took off when a parent began questioning him.

The suspect is described as Caucasian, approximately 40-years-old with a medium build, brown hair and clean shaven. He was wearing a dark jacket.

Police say his vehicle was a red compact two-door pickup truck with a Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service licence plate.

Anyone with information is asked to contact investigators at (204) 986-2857 or Crime Stoppers at (204) 786-TIPS (8477).
