Firefighters in the town of Lac du Bonnet, Manitoba fought two separate fires next to each other early Tuesday.
RCMP say the first blaze began at around 1:30 a.m. When police arrived, they noticed a second house upriver from the first had also caught fire.
The family in the first home — two women and a female youth — were able to escape without injuries. The second home wasn’t occupied. A third home downriver of the original fire suffered minimal damage.
The fires don’t appear to be suspicious, but police and the Office of the Fire Commissioner continue to investigate.
